Mr. Potato Head: School Rush is the very first interactive storybook starring Mr. Potato Head. Readers follow Mr. Potato Head as he ventures his way across the high-seas, outer space, and the bottom of the ocean, all in an effort to get to school on time. Readers are also given the chance to disassemble and then reassemble Mr. Potato Head any way they wish in a fun new assembly activity.
I developed Mr. Potato Head: School Rush in tandem with the Story Time framework. School Rush is the first app to use Story Time as the backbone for much of its functionality. Because of this, a lot of the time I spent on this project was dedicated to integrating Story Time, fleshing out its features, bug testing, and making sure the framework could handle the type of interactive storybooks Graphite Lab was trying to make. In addition to the tools programming side of things, I coded all the minigame logic for things like the racing scene and the assembly activity. I also developed the interface that used to control the app on Apple TV. This entailed making an on-screen cursor that is controlled by swiping on the Apple TV remote.
Mr. Potato Head: School Rush is available for iOS, Android, and Apple TV.
